District 3 Clubs
The individual zonta club is the basic organizational unit of Zonta International.  Clubs exist to promote the objectives of Zonta International, and to initiate, adopt and implement policies and procedures to attain theses ends in their own communities and throughout the world. Each club establishes its own level of participatioin in community service projects and local programs.  The Zonta Clubs in District 3 support a large variety of projects.  Many clubs offer local college scholarships for women in junior colleges, four year colleges and graduate level education.  The District is heavily involved in local projects to end domestic violence, raise funds for cancer research and participate in programs to empower local women.  Because the United Nations is headquartered in District 3, our clubs are closely aligned with United Nations programs. Local Zonta clubs promote women’s leadership through the “Young Women in Public Affairs” Awards program.  The program is designed to encourage young women to enter public affairs and policy-making fields.  Z Clubs for high school students and Golden Z Clubs for college and university students encourage leadership skills development, career exploration, and service.  Local clubs also contribute funds to the Zonta International Strategies to Eradicate Violence Against Women and Children; to the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships for women in college level business fields; and the Amelia Earhart Fellowships which have provided over $10 million, to help more than 1144 talented young women representing 73 countries pursue graduate level study in aerospace related sciences and engineering. In addition, local clubs contribute funds to the Zonta International Service Projects.
Zonta members are invited to attend an International Convention every two years in attractive locations around the world. Past Conventions have been held in Sydney, Australia; Helsinki, Finland; Denver, Colorado; Hong Kong; and Paris, France. The 2004 Convention was held in New York, NY; the 2006 Convention was held in Melbourne, Australia; the 2008 Convention was held in Rotterdam, Holland; the 2010 Convention was held in San Antonio, Texas; the 2012 Convention was held in Torino, Italy, the 2014 Convention was held in Orlando, Florida, the 2016 Convention was held in Nice, France; the 2018 Convention was held in Yokohama, Japan; and the 2020 Convention will be held in Chicago, Illinois.
